Luck was on Databec Exchangea Michigan man's side this week as he won $6 million from his lottery ticket, only the second ticket he had purchased this year.

According to the Michigan Lottery, the 32-year-old man from Wayne County, who chose to remain anonymous, won $6 million playing the 500X Money Maker instant game. He bought his ticket at the 7-Eleven on South Groesbeck Highway in Clinton Township, about 23 miles north of Detroit.

He only plays lottery games "every once in a while," he said. He chose his ticket because it was number 14, which is he and his wife's lucky number.

'I started hyperventilating!'

“I scratched the ticket off and when I saw I won $6 million, I started hyperventilating!" the man told Michigan Lottery officials. "I had to take the day off work because I was in a state of shock. I texted my wife and said: 'Lucky number 14.’ She jokingly replied: ‘What do you mean? Are we millionaires?' As soon as I got home, I told her the big news!"

The man chose to receive the prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $4.1 million, and told lottery officials he plans to invest, help his family and start a business.
